Her studio, which is located on the east bank of the Prestile River, provides a window on the wildlife and seasons which inspire much of her art. It is her belief that physical surroundings and life experiences mold and shape the artist; this is why she is sure that living in the same house on the same land for so many years has given her a secure foundation upon which to build and grow as an artist. She has never grown tired of the changing seasons, the shifting colors of sky and land, and watching wildlife from her windows. All of these influences find their way into her art. Michele's formal educational background includes studies at the Art Institute of Chicago while in high school, an art degree and an education degree from the University of Maine at Presque Isle. Her work has been accepted into several juried shows and solo exhibitions, and is in private collections in the USA, the UK, and Canada. ARTIST STATEMENT: "As soon as I was notified about this year's project so many ideas flashed through my mind it was impossible to settle on just one. With regret I had to limit my endeavors to two clocks. This clock is acrylic on ¾ pine plywood. The image is of a female silhouette in yoga pose against beginning dawn."
