ABOUT THE ARTIST:
After starting out in Carmel, Maine, Jenn moved with her family to North Pole, Alaska, where she graduated from NPHS in 1993.

Jenn graduated from the University of Maine magna cum laude, earning a BA in Women's Studies and a BFA in Studio Art with a concentration in sculpture and printmaking. After that eight-year 'adventure,' she happily accepted the position of Marketing Director at MDM in 2005. Ultimately she wanted work that meant something to the community and, although she hadn't thought of a career in graphic design and marketing, she feels that things have worked out perfectly. She says, "I was lucky enough to find a position where I am encouraged to be creative every day in how the message about the museum and its mission gets across to our audiences. I am constantly learning and am anxious to grow further in this role."

She currently resides in Bangor with her partner, a spunky little Canadian, and their two adorable cats. Her biggest "hobby" is getting healthy, and they do something active almost every day. They took up golf this summer, and she has biked to work almost every day since June. She collects art supplies, and puts them to work occasionally, in phases. Her current phase is making bags -- and one clock out of recycled wool sweaters.

ARTIST STATEMENT: "My clock evolved from several ideas, but the stepping-off point was the purchase of several vintage cabinet cards of Maine kids found at the flea market on the Bangor waterfront this summer. I used PhotoshopCS to amend the photos and add the butterfly wings to the kids. The 'butterfly house' is made out of layers of stiff interfacing and covered with fabric and recycled and felted wool sweaters. I also tried needle felting for the first time for the contemporary flowers. My message with this piece is that 'time flies' and before you know it kids are grown and fluttering off in all directions."
